Living a Perfect Life Pt.2

I want to continue on my first topic "Can you Truly Live a Perfect Life?" Basically I was talking about how, if we seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, he will take care of our needs.

Philippians 1:10 says: "For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until Christ returns" (NLT).

Our primary focus should be to keep on seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). There are many benefits to be derived from doing this. Let's take a look at what the Bible says are some of the benefits of living righteously.

  • Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death. (Proverbs 11:4). Righteousness will deliver you from the death of your marriage, career, finances, relationships and health.

  • The righteousness of the upright will deliver them, but the unfaithful will be caught by their lust. (Proverbs 11:6). Righteousness gives you the freedom to live as you were meant to live. Full of joy and peace of mind, prosperous and in charge of your circumstances. Unrighteousness will leave you full of guilt and a slave to all your lusts and ungodly pleasures.

  • Better a little with righteousness, than vast revenues without justice. (Proverbs 16:8). Be thankful for the little you are blessed with now, and with your righteousness God will add to what you already have. People who gain wealth unjustly are likely to lose that wealth very easily.

  • The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord. But He loves him who follows righteousness. (Proverbs 15:9). The Lord loves and blesses all those who want to do right.

  • He who follows righteousness and mercy finds life, righteousness and honour. (Proverbs 21:21). Those who steadily pursue prosperity and the "good things of life" rarely find them. We should not be so preoccupied with the pursuit of material things that we have little time to pursue godly devotion.

  • The work of the righteous will be peace and the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever. Isaiah 32:17. If we are righteous our lives will be full of peace because our main concern is the pursuit of the Kingdom of God and not material wealth.

These are just some of the many scriptures that tell us what are the benefits of living a righteous life. I will have some others on another posting.

In the meantime I have a joke I would like to share with you. Hope it makes your day.

God Bless!

Good Attorney Joke

A very successful lawyer parked his brand new Porsche Carrera GT in front of the office, ready to show it off to his colleagues. As he got out, a truck came along too close to the curb and completely tore off the driver's door.

Fortunately, a cop in a police car was close enough to see the accident and pulled up behind the Porsche, his lights flashing. But, before the cop had a chance to ask any questions, the lawyer started screaming hysterically about how his Porsche, which he had just picked up the day before, was now completely ruined and would never be the same, no matter how hard the body shop tries to make it new again.

After the lawyer finally wound down from his rant, the cop shook his head in disgust and disbelief. "I can't believe how materialistic you lawyers are," he said.

"You are so focused on your possessions that you neglect the most important things in life."

"How can you say such a thing?" asked the lawyer.

The cop replied, "Don't you even realize that your left arm is missing? It got ripped off when the truck hit you!!!"

"OH, MY GOD!" screamed the lawyer.

"MY ROLEX!"

Great post, Lisa. It's too bad it so hard for some of us to be righteous, including myself. Essentially, all of the commandments were set up for own emotional well-being. They weren't meant too restrict us. When we do what God wants, life goes better for us.
