What can we do to make peace between ourselves?

The only way for there to be peace among ourselves is for us to love on another.

People nowadays posses a selfish, self-centred, ‘every man for himself' type of attitude. Each want what the other has, and those who have don't share. This is not only on an individual basis but on a international level as well.

If each and every one of us put aside greed, envy, selfishness and hatred from our hearts the world would be a better place. Jesus taught a message of love and it is only through this message that we can learn how to truly live in harmony and peace.

Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with each other. Don't try to act important, but enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don't think you know it all.

Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honourable. Do your part to live in peace with everyone as much as possible.

Dear friends, never avenge yourselves. Leave that to God. For it is written:

I will take vengeance;

I will repay those who deserve it, says the Lord (Deut. 32:5)

Instead do what the scriptures say:

If your enemies are hungry, feed them

If they are thirsty, give them something to drink, and they will be ashamed of what they have done to you. (Proverbs 25:21)

Don't let evil get the best of you, but conquer evil by doing good.

Should be that simple shouldn't it? But it takes a certain type of intelligence to effect and maintain a peaceful environment.

James 3:7

But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no partiality and is always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of goodness.

If our world leaders had this type of wisdom will there be war?

At the end of the day it is only Godly love that will bring us true peace.

Colossians 3:12-15

Since God chose you to be the holy people whom he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tender hearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. You must make allowances for each other's faults and forgive the person who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. And the most important piece of clothing you must wear is love. Love is what binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace...
